P90X 60 Day Results – Lost 28 Pounds and 8 Inches In My Waist

60 Day P90X Results

Hello Everyone,

This is my P90X 60 Day Results video. I included my day 1, day 30 and 60 day photos. I have stuck with the nutrition plan and never cheated. I also have not missed a single day of the workout. I’m excited to see where I end up. I have decided however that I am going to do a second round of P90X and then try P90X2. I have become addicted to feeling good. I should have done this a long time ago.

P90X 60 Day Results – Tracking Spreadsheet

Also, I included a spreadsheet I put together that tracks my progress during my P90X journey. If anyone is interested in it, just let me know and I’ll send it to you. I also use MyFitnessPal.com to track my nutrition and I just love it. It is easy to use and it is mobile friendly so you can use it on your iPad or iPhone.

Anyway, check out the photos and let me know what you think. I am very pleased and I can’t wait to see how things end up. I’ll post another video in two weeks and one at the end so stay tuned.

Take care,

Kelly

P90X Diet – Importance of Fiber, Probiotics and Water

P90X Diet - Importance of Fiber, Probiotics and Water

The P90X diet plans are designed to help you eat foods that are good for you and that fit into your nutritional and fitness goals. It is very comprehensive and contains a lot of foods for you to choose from and what their nutritional values are. In other words they make sure that you know how many carbohydrates, fats and proteins each food has so that you can design a plan that works for you. What I want to address is what the P90X nutrition plan doesn’t cover. Specifically, I want to emphasize how important fiber, probiotics and water are to your diet.

P90X Diet – Fiber

In the fat shredder portion of the P90X diet, it concentrates on keeping protein high and carbs and fats low. Because of this, it is difficult to get enough fiber in your diet. Dietary fiber is found predominantly in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes. It is well known that dietary fiber is useful in the prevention of constipation. This is extremely important but consuming the right amount of fiber every day can have even more long lasting health benefits like lowering cholesterol, stabilizing blood sugar levels and lowering your risk for heart disease and diabetes. Don’t get me wrong here, I am not picking on the P90X plans as a matter of fact most people (especially in the United States) only get about half of the dietary fiber they need daily even if they are eating healthier. It is suggested that women consume a minimum of 25 to 30 grams of fiber a day and that men consume between 35 and 40 grams of fiber a day. Because most people don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables, it is essential to supplement your diet with fiber every day. The absolute best supplement that I have found is Organic Triple Fiber from Renew Life. You can stir it into your favorite juice or food. It is nearly tasteless and it is SO good for you. I drink mine in water with my breakfast and lunch and mix it in with my protein shake after my workout in the evening. The bottom line is that you need to find what works for you and do it. Your body will thank you not to mention function better!

P90X Diet – Probiotics

This is a subject that most people are oblivious to. Probiotics are the beneficial bacteria that help maintain the natural balance of organisms (microflora) in the intestines. Our bodies share a complicated relationship with bacteria. It exists on our skin, in our intestinal tract, urinary tract, among other places. Too much bacteria can make us very ill, but too little can also make us more vulnerable to illness. Probiotics, which are bacteria naturally occurring in, or added to food, can be very beneficial when consumed. So, how does probiotics relate to the P90X diet or any other diet for that matter? First of all, these beneficial bacteria make it possible for our bodies to digest food and more importantly utilize their nutritional composition better. If you consume the right amount of probiotics daily, your body will use the nutrients, vitamins and minerals more efficiently which simply means that you will get more out of what you eat. What good is eating all these awesome foods and supplements if your body isn’t utilizing the nutrients properly? In my opinion, this is yet another essential element in the quest for better health and fitness. Take care of your body, and it will take care of you. There are many places you can get the correct probiotic but Ultimate Flora from Renew Life is my choice. Don’t neglect this important part of your transformation. You will feel better and perform better when your body gets what it needs.

P90X Diet – Don’t forget to drink plenty of water!

All of the things that I have mentioned here are extremely important to your health but none more so than drinking plenty of water. In order to see results in any fitness or weight loss program you must give up soda (regular or diet) and any other drink which is loaded with sugar. Sorry to be Johnny Raincloud but processed sugar is your enemy and if you can’t give it up, you won’t see results. You shouldn’t EVER drink your calories! Ok… an occasional glass of wine will not hurt you but try to wait until you reach your goal before you indulge. Speaking of goals, I want to mention this. Has anyone ever asked you or do you have a weight loss goal in mind? The truth is that having a weight loss goal is REDICULOUS and you need to forget it right NOW! You have no idea what your optimum weight is so why come up with an arbitrary number? The fact is that all you want to have lean body mass and this has NOTHING to do with the scale. If you want to know what your body fat percentage needs to be, Click Here. If you eat healthy, exercise (P90X is my favorite) and follow the things that I mentioned in this post, your body will find its optimum weight all by itself so you don’t even have to think about it. If you want to keep track of your progress, measure your hips, waist, chest, arms and legs every week and record it. Or you can just gauge it with how your clothes fit. You WILL see results but stay away from the scale… what you weigh is meaningless!

Keep Pushing Play and Bring it!!

P90X – 30 Day Results – A Life Changer!!

P90X – 30 Day Results – A Life Changer!!

P90X Life Changer

This is my P90X 30 day progress update. It truly has been a life changer!! First of all, it has taken me this long to get up the courage to even post my before pictures because frankly, they are embarrassing. If it weren’t for a lot of people just like me asking whether P90X is working, I probably would wait. The fact is that it is working and in a big way. As of March 27, 2012 I have lost 16 pounds and 4 1/4 inches in my waist. Take a look at the before and after pictures… I’m blown away on how my body is responding. I’m also appalled at how far I let myself go before I took action.

P90X – 30 Day Results – Listen To Your Body!!

The truth is that over the last few years I have been experiencing several unexplained health problems that I and my doctor couldn’t figure out. I’ve been experiencing dizziness, lower abdominal pain, heart palpitations and a number of other ugly things. Needless to say, I just kept going back to the doctor getting prescriptions in hopes that something would help. Also, I kept eating poorly and living a sedentary lifestyle. What I didn’t realize is that I wasn’t going to find my answers in a pill or potion; it had to come from within me. My body was telling me something and I just wasn’t listening.

It wasn’t until I was speaking at a seminar recently that everything changed for me. Believe it or not, the answers to my health problems came from the vanity of seeing myself as others did. One look at the recording of my seminar and I made commitment to change.

Here is the most important part of my P90X journey so far. Yes, I have lost weight and I have put on some muscle but I don’t have any noticeable health problems anymore… They are GONE!! Do I still have stress in my life? Sure I do… who doesn’t? I have replaced my trips to the doctor with a commitment to taking care of myself inside and out. Think about it… If you don’t take care of yourself, who else will? The answer is… Nobody! My new saying that keeps me going is… “Pushing play every day keeps illness away”. Pretty powerful words if you think about it.

P90X – 30 Day Results – Commitment Wins!!

P90X is a wonderful program that works amazingly well but it is only as good as YOUR COMMITMENT. The reason that some people have great results using P90X and others don’t, has nothing to do with their body type or metabolism, it has to do with their commitment. The bottom line is that COMMITMENT WINS!! The only failure, that doesn’t lead to success, is the one that makes you quit!! Do you want better health? Commit to good nutrition and P90X and it will happen. Bring it!!

Building Muscle and Losing Fat

Fat-vs-Muscle

Hello everyone,

This video is for day 21 of P90X. Things are going well and I’m down another 1.2 pounds but more importantly, I am down another 3/4 of an inch in my waist and a 1/2 inch in my chest which means I building muscle and burning fat. All my other measurements are the same. The ironic thing is that I weighed this morning because I was trying out my new scale with the fat calculator on it and I had lost another pound overnight. I think I am going into another weight reduction phase but it could be my imagination. One of these days… hopefully soon, I will start gaining muscle faster than I can lose fat because I won’t have much left. I can’t wait for that! I will know more in the coming weeks.

Also, I wouldn’t call week four a recovery week. I find that Yoga is one of the more challenging workouts and I have it twice this week. Plus, I watched the Core Synergistics video and it’s not walk in the park. Actually, I am looking forward to getting through this week so I can post my 30 day transformation. I can definitely feel the difference in how my clothes fit and my increases in flexibility and strength.

Building Muscle and Losing Fat Starts in the Kitchen

I have been following the nutrition plan to the letter and really watching what I eat and what my wife buys at the grocery store. I was going with her at first and now she just calls me when she is unsure about something. The main thing is that I have had to keep my calories under 1500 at day while consuming 50% Protein, 30% Carbohydrates and 20% Fat. That has been pretty challenging but I am getting it done. Depending on how I feel, I will move my caloric intake to 1800 or so in the next phase. I already have more energy but I will need the extra calories to increase the intensity of the workouts. I have also decided to order Shakeology for the next phase as a meal replacement in the morning. That alone will help me increase my calories a bit. I am signing up with Coach Wayne at TeamRipped.com because he is taller and should have better perspective than other coaches that I have seen online. Being tall has it’s own challenges.. like doing pullups for instance. He is 6’4″ and I am 6’3″ so there is that similarity. Now, if I can just get my body to look like his… WOW!

Building Muscle and Losing Fat is Addictive!

One last thing that I wanted to mention is that I have allergies really bad and things are really starting to bloom in the Napa Valley. Needless to say I have been dealing with headaches and dizziness because of it but I have been plowing through the exercises anyway. It’s really tough to get started but I actually feel better after the workouts. I am getting addicted to these workouts not only because I am shedding fat and building muscle, I just feel better plain and simple. Because of that I am actually looking forward to the workouts so I don’t feel so crappy. Good problem to have I guess.

That’s it for now. Until next week..

Take care and BRING IT!!

Building Muscle and Losing Fat

Update- Day 14 of P90X – Losing Inches Not Weight!

P90X - Ditch The Scale - Use Measurements

Hello everyone.

This video was for day 14 of P90X but I’m just now getting it posted. There is a lot exciting news… at least for me. I have been working out without missing a day and more importantly, I have been following the nutritional guidelines for P90X to the letter. I also created a spreadsheet to track my progress. It is an easy Excel macro file but if anyone would like a copy for yourself just let me know. In addition I have been keep track of my calories, protein, fat and carbohydrates using a website that I found called MyFitnessPal.com. Check it out, it is great and it will help you out a ton on the nutrition side of P90X.

At the beginning of this challenge I told myself to only measure and weigh myself on Sundays because I knew that the numbers would fluctuate and I didn’t want to get discouraged. So on day eight I weighed myself and I had lost 12 pounds and I was blown away. I really didn’t make any other measurements other than my waist which was down 1-1/2 inches. Needless to say I was excited so I increased my efforts the next week and raised my intensity level as much as I could.

On Sunday the 11th of March I couldn’t wait to get up in the morning and check my progress. So, I jumped out of bed on Sunday, ran to the scale which I was certain that would reveal similar results to last week. Anyway, I jumped on the scale and I had lost 1 freaking pound. I was totally bummed! At first I thought the scale was wrong or something because I brought it this week as hard as I could! Then it dawned on me that I should check my measurements just to make sure I was not going crazy.

P90X – Ditch The Scale
Stick With The Measurements!

So, I slowly walked in my office wondering about the scale the entire time, grabbed the measuring tape and started measuring. I started with my waist because I like every other male on the planet…that is where we want to lose it the most. So, I wrapped the tape around me and I was blown away at the results! I had lost another inch around my waist taking me down 2 1/2 inches so far. I freaking couldn’t believe it. I only lost 1 pound but lost an entire inch in my waist! At first I tried to make heads or tails out of it but the only explanation that I could come up with is that I was building muscle at the same pace I was dropping fat. Pretty cool I must say!!

I proceeded to make the other measurements and I had lost inches over my entire body… just not weight. This was amazingly encouraging and I am again energized to get through next week to see where I end up. I’m getting more proficient at doing the P90X routines but they are still really hard. At least I don’t look and feel like a complete bonehead while I’m doing them now.

P90X – Concentrate on What Matters!

One last thought. For those of you watch the scale as a guide to your fitness must reevaluate what is really important. Yes, it’s nice to know how much you weigh but when you watch what you eat and exercise using P90X, the scale is almost meaningless. Muscle weighs more than fat and what really means something is how you fit into your clothes. I learned that the hard way. But make no mistake, I have completely committed to see this thing though and for no other reason than finding out what my optimum weight is. There is no table or calculation that can determine your optimum weight should be. That number is completely up to you to find out and you won’t do it until you go through the process.

Like I always tell my clients… Get addicted to the process and you will get the results you are looking for.

Take care and BRING IT!!

Until next time,

Kelly

Update- Day 14 of P90X – Your Clothes Will Tell The Story!

Update – Day 8 of P90X

P90X

This is day 8 of doing P90X and I just finished my workout. Last week my entire body was sore. I think the only part of my body that wasn’t sore was my eyelids. I was a little worried that working out sore would be a problem but I did it anyway. I found out that my soreness decreased almost to nothing after I got into the next workout.

Anyway, I have lost 12 pounds and I’ve lost 1.5 inches in my waist in the first week! I know, that sounds too good to be true so when I first saw that, I weighed and measured again just to make sure. P90X Rocks! At the peak of my soreness it was a little debilitating but I kept going and I’m glad I did. Now I’m super motivated. To get those kind of results that quickly is pretty motivating don’t you think?

The workouts are still pretty tough and I can’t do all the reps especially on the Ab Ripper X. I just do as many as I can… rest then do as many I can to the end. P90X is freaking brutal workout! I have added reps this week so I’m heading in the right direction. Also, the decline pushups are really hard for me… I found out that it’s a good way to face plant though! What I’m doing is a rep or two and then slowly descend to get kind of a negative rep in to help build strength. I have never had too much upper body strength, even when I was thin. All I cared about when I was younger was to be able to hold my guitar up for 4 hours and play.

P90X – A Life Lesson

One thing I want to say is that I am finding an amazing correlation with the commitment that it takes to do P90X and any other achievement that I have ever enjoyed in my life. When I was studying for my MBA, it took an amazing amount of commitment and dedication to see the process through. I just kept on keeping on until the day came when I could say that I had a Master’s Degree. The same thing applies with P90X or anything else that you want to accomplish in life. Oh, and by the way, there really is no time table to be successful… only dedication and commitment. Those are the only ingredients in Success for literally anything!

I tell people in Marketing and in Business:

“Anything is possible if you want it bad enough” Also,

“To be successful…go as fast as you can at your own pace.”

The only way you can ever lose at ANYTHING is if you quit…

So…
Keep Pushing Play. Not just for P90X but for whatever else you want in life!! The most successful people in the world have only one thing in common. They hang on when everyone else let’s go… So, don’t let go and success will find you!!

Take care and BRING IT!!

Until next time,

Kelly

Update – Day 8 of P90X

Update – Day 1 of P90X – Brutal

Update – Day 1 of P90X – Brutal

P90X

Hello again. It’s February 27, 2012 and as promised, here is my Day 1 Update. P90X definitely lives up to billing. It’s a brutal workout. I’m hoping with the combination of the workouts and the nutritional changes that I have already made will translate into great results… I have to tell you that I am extremely tired from the workout. Also, I learned a few things that I’m going incorporate tomorrow and workouts from now on. That is.. don’t get in a hurry and definitely don’t try to keep up with instructors at first… No way unless you are already in shape (which I am not).

After working chest arms and back, I ran out of gas to complete the entire AB Ripper X portion of the P90X workout. I got through half though… not bad for someone who hasn’t worked out in years I guess. I’m trying to keep things in perspective and not get in a hurry. I didn’t get into this bad of shape over night and it certainly will take commitment and patience to see it though. So far so good though. My daughter worked out with me and we had a good time bantering back and forth.

Anyway, I have going to add in the Ab portion that I missed to the end of the workout tomorrow. I don’t know if that is acceptable but getting started, I don’t think it will hurt anything. I’m taking it a little slow for now so that I don’t pull something that will set me back even further than I already am.

I really think that going on a strict P90X diet a week before you start the workouts is probably a good idea for someone that has lots of weight to drop. It will help build up good habits and give you energy to start the program and see it though. I hope that is the case anyway!

I’ll keep posting updates as time goes along on my P90X journey to good health and fitness. Oh and I will post my before pictures soon… Boy am I dreading that!

Till next time.

My Initial P90X Video

Hello everyone. This is my initial video on my personal journey with P90X. In the video, I go over why I decided to take the P90X challenge and my approach to the nutrition plan. I lost 8 pounds just going on a strict diet a week or so previous to my workouts. Doing it this way allowed me to shed a few pounds and build up my energy level in order to handle what I am sure is a brutal exercise regimen. Sorry for the length of this initial video… I guess I had a lot to say. I will keep my future videos shorter. Also, I will post a Day 1 video after my first P90X workout and share my thoughts as well. After that I plan on posting every week or so.

By the way, I will post my before pictures soon but frankly, I’m to disgusted to even look at them at the moment. I will say that according to everything that I have read, I am a good 40+ pounds over weight so hopefully the P90X challenge will get me back to where I want to be and more.

I will keep you posted. Time to get busy!!

Take care,

Kelly
